Previous Educational Technology Experience
I personally, do not have much educational technology experience. However, in my field placement last year, my mentor teacher was able to show and guide me in using some of the Smart tools in her classroom. Each day specifically, I would lead the Grade one students through their calendar activity that involved the "notebook" feature on the smart board. This allowed students to keep track of important holidays, events to look forward to, and how many days they had been in school so far that year. This was a useful tool that allowed us to integrate mathematics, social studies, language arts, and science into their daily routines.
My Burning Questions About Technology
I would like to know some new tools that would be useful for me in teaching social studies as this is an area where I am currently feeling the most uneasy about and would appreciate technological support in this subject.

ReplyDeleteGreat goals! I can see you're very interested in working on many aspects of your teaching practice which is super awesome to see. The activities that you did using technology with the grade 1 students were really cool and seem like they really connect to the real world for the students. Do you have specific topics or areas that you would like to have a technology resource for social studies? It may be great to include specifics! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie! That is so awesome that your mentor teacher gave you the responsibility of using the "notebook" feature on the smart board! A strong point of your blog is that you used a specific example to show your growth. I'm sure that you learned a lot and grew tremendously as a teacher from your experience! I hope that you have more experiences like that in your next practicum so you can continue to grow in your abilities surrounding technology! I also really love the background that you chose for your blog, it is very appealing!
ReplyDeleteI love your burning technology question! Maybe it would be beneficial to format it more with the question first and then an explanation afterwards just to make both sections especially clear?!
Overall this was a great entry! I am excited to follow you in your teaching journey!
